Anyone who’s a writer knows that we don’t work alone. There are forces that direct and guide our life as scribes. Here is my prayer to them. I hope it inspires you.
Dear Team in Heaven:
Thank you for giving me another day to express myself. I don’t take the gift you’ve given me lightly, and I accept that it comes with a responsibility not to squander it on trivial pursuits.
I promise not to use it to write something that is out of alignment with God’s plan for humanity. Therefore, I will continue to refuse to write anything that is merely exploitative.
You gave us the gift of laughter, and at the very least, I promise to have fun writing today. With your grace, I will play with ideas, story lines and characters. I will let them roam my mind freely and not hinder their expression. Whenever it’s possible to add levity through humor to a something I’m writing, I vow that I will.
Just for today, I will demand that my inner critic SHUTS UP. Please remind me that this voice is harsh and does not serve me. I acknowledge that by listening to its harangue, I am questioning your authority. My talent is a gift directly from Heaven. Who am I to question God’s wisdom?
Thank you Heavenly Team — Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Archangels, my Guardian Angel, my loved ones who have passed on, and my muses — I know that even when I can’t sense your presence, you are always here, helping me to become not only a stronger, more articulate writer, but the person I’ve been from the beginning of time until infinity.
I call upon Archangel Gabriel, God’s own Heavenly scribe to encourage and challenge me. When I’m discouraged or feeling inadequate, I know you’ll redirect my thoughts to ones of empowerment.
Thank you also Archangel Michael. Without your protection, I wouldn’t be alive or of sound mind. I invite you into my life and claim you as my personal guardian. Since it is in the interest of Lucifer and his demons, to stop my work, I ask for your protection of my mind and working environment while I write. Keep them clear of distractions and obstructions.
Archangel Raphael, I invite you into my soul to heal those parts of me that feel unworthy of this gift God blessed me with. Please calm me when I get anxious or frustrated as I attempt to either shape a tale or find the words to express it.
I invite all of the Archangels to guide my writing and all of my creative endeavors. Come Sandalphon, Metatron, Ariel, Uriel, Zadkiel, Raziel, Haniel, Raguel, Chamuel, Jophiel, Jeremiel, and Azrael, fill my thoughts with inspiration. Clear my chakras so my mind, body and soul are one. Fill me with Heavenly peace.
I also call upon the infinite guidance of writers that I respect who have passed on. I invite you to be my mentors. When I’m weary or not feeling connected to the creative fount in Heaven, please be with me and if it pleases you, inspire me.
Guardian Angel my love and thanks are always yours. May each day bring my writing more in alignment with the being that you know was my destiny.
Last, but not least, I ask also for the great spiritual masters: Buddha, Gandhi, Mother Teresa, and any others to also guide my work. You have inspired generations and given so much to help humanity, I honor and respect you.
Now, Holy Team, send me with clear mind and open heart to accept the gifts you intend for me to receive so that I may share them with humanity.
As it was in the beginning, is now and forever shall be, words without end. Praise to Heaven!
Amen.
